Our story starts with a PTFA committee chair woman for a primary school in Somerset. At one of the monthly meetings it was suggested starting an online fund raising campaign using a portal web site (which will remain nameless). The school first spread the word to it PTFA members and several people signed up and took full advantage of using the links for all sort of online shopping that they would normally do. The PTFA chair woman asked her brother to sign up also and use it where he could. Considering the small amount of people who used the portal from the school it became quite apparent that good funds could be raised with very little effort. Between the chair woman and her brother they had raised nearly £180 in under 6 months.

The brother (if you had not guessed yet is the author of this site) was impressed and had experience of building and running webs sites in the past, so did a little digging around....

To our horror we found that the commissions being offered by this portal were on average 50% less than what was actaully being offered by the retailer. We understand that companies need to make money but taking a 50% cut from fundraising organisations seems very steep. So we decided to start our own site offering a similar service with some major improvements for a far less admin fee. We can now offer the same array of retailers but only take less than half what was being offered by the rival site.
